Evaluation

I’ve worked as a lead evaluator and research partner and I welcome projects in which I directly interface with organizations as well as those in which I work alongside larger research firms. As a trained researcher, I take a systematic yet adaptable approach to museological research.

All data and participants are treated with respect. The research is proprietary, reports are only distributed with organizational approval, and personally identifying information from participants is kept private. This privacy courtesy is extended to all projects on which I contribute.

I conduct strategic analysis to understand organizational priorities and stakeholder objectives. We work together to establish institutional, departmental, programmatic and evaluation goals. Using this preliminary research, I develop custom methodologies and data collection schemes. In past projects, the following methods have been used:

  • Interviews with board members, staff, artists (30 minutes – 2 hours)
  • Pre- and post-visit interviews with visitors (5-10 minutes)
  • One question visitor interviews (1 minute)
  • Surveys about analogue and digital products
  • Usability testing of prototype interpretive collateral
  • Email surveys to program participants
  • Online-writing and narrative analysis
  • Documentary review

Data is analyzed and compared to the goals that were established in the preliminary analysis. I develop the research findings into strategic guidance and create reports for internal stakeholders, boards, philanthropic entities, and government agencies.
